About Susie

I enjoyed a happy childhood in North London, playing cops and robbers with primary school friends. Then later I hatched adventures with my faming friends, developing a passion for the outdoors.  After getting married to a farmer in my teens and starting a family, I joined the Metropolitan Police.  With a lifelong passion for working with horses, I eventually transferred to the Mounted Branch, where I patrolled Central London on horseback.

Now, I live a more peaceful life in the Wyre Forest with my husband.  Together, we have a smallholding in the heart of a local beauty spot, looking after Daisy, our horse, and a small flock of rare Soay sheep. As an enthusiastic equestrian artist, I also lead my local art club as Chair, nurturing my creativity as well as the

I have been driven to write my story by the desire not to take it to my grave, and I believe my first book is a story that must be told.  In fact, I still have handwritten manuscripts dating back to 1971, so this has been a long time coming.  If nothing else it is a unique record of social history.

I'm currently working on my third autobiography, and I'm hopeful that I'll soon be able to dive into writing some fictional stories. I have a packed programme of talks booked for 2026 having already spoken a variety of groups including Rotary and WI.  I am particularly looking forward to the Wolverhampton Literary Festival on 7 February 2026 where I have been booked to share many of my  surprising and, sometimes, amusing memories.
