What my readers think about
'Away Through the Woods'

I finished your book and I loved it.💕 I felt like I was in your company through the whole read. I missed you when it was finished!

I wept over your father’s poem about Sally! It was so moving.

And Your poem at the end about being young and hardly understanding life and the abuse was very special. The grief and the strength of that young woman resonated. It needs to be shared everywhere.

Your whole story was told so well. The good and the bad, your beautiful, innocent and kind spirit shined through on every page.

Thank you so much for sharing your story it is one I will treasure and share with all my friends.

This is a story that should be shared, and it was an excellent read. It is beautifully written, well done.

I’m really enjoying this book Sue, it’s compelling.  Derek wants to read it once I’ve finished it!

Dear Sue,

Thank you so much for the copy of your book, which I have now read.

What a life! Or should I say several lives.

One thing that struck me was the total honesty of your writing,  You haven’t tried to dress anything up or portray yourself as any kind of heroine; it’s just you, as you truly are.

You have been very fair, especially in your own recording of your turbulent relationship with John.  I was so shocked when you first told me how you were treated by him.  He obviously had seriously unresolved issues.  Nevertheless, your conclusion to the book is very touching and balanced.

Thank you for including me in your story.  How lovely that we have been able to renew our friendship that started when we were children.

‘An Excellent book - In fact the whole series of three books were hugely entertaining’

Fantastic, the book is a great read, plenty to keep you turning the pages, gritty, traumatic, and with some lighter moments, and brave, loved it, have also read Sue's sequel, Police, Ponies and Husband in Between'. That is a must if you like this one, but also very different, but a great read also, have really enjoyed reading both, not my usually go to book but really refreshing change,10 out of 10.

I have just finished your book and it is a fantastic read.  I understand now why you had to write this and it is a story that should be told.  Really brilliant, thank you.

What an eye opener. A very eventful youth with unconventional and very demanding experiences, that forged you into the person who wanted to join the police, and prepared you for the mounted police.

. . . an interesting read with bits that I’d forgotten about …. I tend to dip in and out, but it’s a good read.

I had the pleasure of reading a draft version of your book and I was both charmed and captivated.

I will certainly be buying a few copies.

You are a natural born writer with a great back story and I know the book will be laced with lashings of humour!

LOVE the front cover!

I enjoyed it. It is very clearly 'you' speaking in the narrative.

What my audience think about the talks I give

It was great to meet you on Saturday: I thoroughly enjoyed your talk at Wolverhampton Central Library.

As discussed, I have given your details to the Chair of Sedgley Townswomen's Guild: she said that she would be in touch to discuss the possibility of you coming to visit our group.
